This page is to display photos of unknown plants, bugs and other mystery objects from the garden.

If you have a nasticreecha or a plant that you need identifying, send it along to cormaic at the usual address, he'll place it on this page, and hopefully, someone will be able to help solve the puzzle.

The flowers are lavender blue and about an inch or so across. Stamens protrude to the lip of the 4 reflexed petals and are a clear yellow. Each flower grows on a little 'tube' stem about half an inch long, ending in a cup shape which is beige and when the flower dies and falls off, the tube is left. It's a greyish green and slightly furry. The leaves are mid green, quite deeply serrated, ovate, 4 or 5 inches long and about 3 or 4 wide, getting smaller as they approach the flowers which are arranged in corymbs. The stems are woody and it grows to about 3'. It is exquisitely fragrant and grows outdoors in a fairly sheltered spot in south Devon. The friend who has it says she was told it's a 'rare type of orchid' but it has no resemblance to any orchid that I've ever heard of. She also says that they happily hack it back each year and it comes springing forth equally happily each spring. Apologies for the quality of the pics but the bush is dying off and the flowers are NOT at their best!
