Meet report by Sarah Dale:
I arrived at the meet with my husband (Matt) at about 12.45 to find Janet (of course!) and her husband Tom (who was to be in charge of the TV and non-gardening guests) also Janet's brother Robert and his partner Jenny, and Janet's nephew Paul. We also met Janet and Tom's dalmation dogs - Wicker (Mum) and Tiffin (daughter) who were not too bouncy......

Robert had just fired up the BBQ when we got there, then Robert and Jenny took the dogs for a walk. Matt and Tom discussed computers and watched the cricket / football.

Then Helen turned up followed by Julian. The dog walkers returned, we all strolled round the garden in various formations, and had various gardening conversations.

Robert finally put some food on the BBQ about 2pm - we were famished! Julian bought some wicked spicy sausages and Helen bought a baked sweet potatoe and some home made herb (from the garden!) and garlic butter. The food went down very well in an only just sunny garden, it was just warm enough - an excellent day!

Helen amused us with work stories, and we had a discussion about GM foods.

Julian had to go early and was forced to take some plants by Janet - more than he may have wanted I suspect! Julian told us he had a flat, so I guess he gardens in window boxes or on a flat roof. He took mostly fruit and veg plants.

Barbara-Anne plus daughter and husband turned up later and a 2nd round of food was put on the BBQ! She also bought a very yummy HUGE choccy gateau for the party! Yum!

Barbara and husband seemed to be very much on the early stage of the learning curve with an empty garden to fill. The husband was given instructions on how to make cutting trays for the greenhouse by Janet!....

Eventually at about 4.30pm, it was getting time to go, and we all strated picking out plants to take away with us. Helen has a very natural garden and a fetish for bonsai, so some tree type things went home with her... I indulged my passion for hardy geraniums and cleaned Janet out! I also had some toadflax from Helen, and numerous other plants from Janet. Needless to say I went home with more than I bought! Janet was threatening everybody that they had to take a boot full home! Then she said - "oh well if you don't take it - Sarah will have to have it"!!!! HELP!!! (Running out of garden rapidly....)

Barbara-Anne and co did take a full boot full and half the back seat home - poor Lisa-Anne travelled home with a poppy between her knees! We all finally left at about 5.30pm to let Janet and family recover in peace.

I'm just a *bit* disappointed nobody wanted to visit my garden - as it was on offer AND I had mowed the lawn and tidied up and semi-edged the lawn!!!!

MANY MANY THANKS to Janet for organising the event and providing the facilities and a mountain of grub. I had an excellent day, even him indoors admitted it wasn't too bad! It was lovely meeting everybody that did come, and disapointing we had such a low turn out. I may just be tempted to host the nest South Bucks URG-le! Janet
